We sourced over half our manufacturing to RiverStar in 2010 and have been very pleased with their work. Quality, cost and timeliness are good. They also seem scalable and have been able to react to our unpredictable demand. I believe their capacity to be very large. We view them more as a partner now than another vendor/contract manufacturer. I plan to outsource the balance of our manufacturing to them this fall. Our company has been working with RiverStar, Inc. since mid 2010. Our relationship has evolved over time with several of the related companies. In 2009, we started circuit board manufacturing with RiverBend, RiverStar’s sister company.
Total assembly manufacturing was added at RiverBend in early 2010, and finally distribution with RiverStar was completed in mid 2010.
As a small company, we were challenged with the full-time costs of supporting a distribution warehouse with both staff and equipment. Our agreement with RiverStar allows flexibility on shipments while leveraging shared costs. They have a team in place that is fully informed on the latest shipping laws and regulations impacting our products. These are regulations that we don’t have time, expertise or internal resources to keep up with all the changes.
The benefits to our company have been converting warehouse space to workable lab space. We have also been able to keep our same day shipments philosophy for customers that require it.
