Steve Craney – President

In 1995, Steve Craney founded RiverStar, Inc. RiverStar was developed to service a Fortune 500 company with needs in the areas of kitting, assembly and shipping. As our business partners’ needs expanded, RiverStar accommodated their requests and expanded as well.

RiverStar has invested in plant and equipment to offer turnkey outsourced manufacture and distribution services, including inventory purchasing, warehousing, kitting, final packaging and distribution.

RiverStar’s modern 120,000 square foot facilities located in Winona and Rushford, MN include high bay warehouse space, assembly and order fulfillment areas, and separate shipping and receiving docks. The Winona facility includes a separate quality/test lab and areas for kitting projects.

Throughout the years RiverStar has developed processes and created an outsourced solution which has saved our business partners millions of dollars.

The development of RiverStar’s repair processes began in 1999 upon the request of a new customer. Initially starting with only 13 part numbers, our processes have grown into hundreds of different products requiring electrical, mechanical and electromechanical troubleshooting and repair.

Our customers have realized proven savings adding up into the millions of dollars while buying reconditioned service parts versus purchasing additional new inventory to keep your customers running.

Utilizing our 99.9% on-time and correct-destination matrix, we combine 15+ years in freight management experience to accurately and efficiently process incoming raw materials, to completed orders, and deliver them to your customer’s door. Real time electronic shipment notifications provided to your customers has shown additional benefits.

RiverStar’s reverse logistics and returns program is a leader in the industry and can help your organization save money by monitoring inventory levels in the field by keeping track of warranty and repair/exchange parts.

Through our high shipment volumes, we can provide savings on freight and transportation costs to upstart and midsized companies. This allows RiverStar to receive discounts from major freight and small package carriers in the industry which we pass on to our customers, which provides them even more savings opportunities.

When it comes to safety and OSHA compliance, RiverStar has always been proactive in our training and safety procedures. Inventory accuracy goals of 100% are maintained with the use of RiverStar’s real-time wireless inventory system. RiverStar’s customers have obtained tremendous financial advantages by utilizing our Vendor Managed Inventory program. Using demand provided by our customers, RiverStar invests the capital to plan, procure, receive and stock inventory, so our customers realize significant savings of reduced inventory investment and internal administrative costs.

Product control personnel review and maintain part numbers and customer bills of material in RiverStar’s business system to ensure accurate MRP processing. Our experienced team of buyers works with suppliers for sourcing, purchasing, expediting/de-expediting, price negotiation, forecasting and performance objectives in order to ensure that customers receive their product on time – all of the time. RiverStar’s planning department tracks customer requirements and works closely with purchasing and production to guarantee on time shipment of product.

Melissa Hamsund

Melissa Hamsund – QMS Administrator

RiverStar has been ISO 9001 certified since 2002. The RiverStar Quality Management System helps us to achieve consistent results and continually improve. We have a strong internal audit team that strives to improve our processes and efficiencies. Our focus is meeting customer expectations and delivering customer satisfaction. We are currently working toward certification of ISO 13485, as a 2012 company goal, in order to share our expertise with the medical community.

RiverStar’s Quality department works to build quality into our products and services. We make sure our documentation and instructions are in place and working upon start-up. We proactively mistake-proof our processes and look for potential failure modes. We believe that there isn’t a cost of quality, but rather a cost of not having quality.
