RiverStar is proud of its sustainable management and recycling program. From November of 2010 thru July of 2011, RiverStar has recycled 103,580 combined pounds (51.79 ton’s) of cardboard and office paper. By recycling this material instead of throwing it away, RiverStar has kept this material out of landfill’s and put it to another use.
Fact 1: 1 ton of cardboard = 9 cubic yards of landfill space saved and 46 gallons of oil saved.
RiverStar recycled 43 tons of cardboard, which equates to 387 cubic yards of landfill space and 1978 gallons of oil saved.
Fact 2: 1 ton of recycled paper can save up to 17 trees.
RiverStar recycled 8 tons of paper which equates to the saving of 136 trees.
Fact 3: Recycling 1 ton of paper saves 682.5 gallons of oil.
RiverStar recycled 8 tons of paper which equates to 5,460 gallons of oil saved.
In total, by recycling cardboard and paper, RiverStar has saved a total of 7,438 gallons of oil, 136 trees and saved 387 cubic yards of landfill space. To put this in perspective, 387 cubic yards is equivalent to almost 3 full semi-trailers (48 ft).
